Wild Wheeling Willoughby
Burke
What to Expect:
This route starts in Burke and heads north to the lake. It enters Willoughby State Forest with a lovely view over Dolloff Pond and then heads up the historic CCC Road. The route loops through the forest on State Forest Highways (equivalent to Class IV roads so expect bumps!) to a dramatic view of Lake Willoughby. It then heads back to Burke on roughly the same roads. While in Willoughby State Forest, bikers must stay on the Bartlett Mountain Road and the CCC Road as all other forest roads are closed to bike use. Despite the forest roads, this route has relatively less (key word: relatively) climbing than other routes and is suitable for newer riders.

West Burke is the southern gateway to the stunning cliffs of Lake Willoughby. Stop in one of the general stores in West Burke to stock up on your way to the lake or visit the restaurants of East Burke after a day of recreating. Stay the night at one of the many country inns or bed and breakfasts sprinkled throughout the town.
